Dustin Johnson’s massive drive drills Saudi Invitational volunteer

A volunteer at this week’s Saudi International golf tournament got a keepsake to take home from Dustin Johnson on Friday, however long the bruise lasts.

Johnson was off to a hot start, shooting 6-under through the first 27 holes at Royal Greens Golf Club in Saudi Arabia, but his tee shot on the 10th hole drifted left and drilled an unsuspecting volunteer in the back.

The volunteer dropped to the ground upon being struck, but TV cameras soon showed him getting back to his feet and trying to walk it off.

“I think it got him on the padding,” an optimistic Golf Channel announcer said. “He’s getting up quick. You can take away the pain, but you can’t take away the swelling. … He’s just fine. It’ll be a nasty bruise.”

Johnson, one of the biggest hitters on the tour, went on to par the hole.
