Derby ace Bradley Johnson banned for five games for appearing to bite Stoke's Joe Allen

The Derby County ace is suspended for four fixtures, but will serve a further one-match ban for receiving five cautions.

The English midfielder appeared to sink his teeth into the Stoke star's jersey during Derby's 2-1 defeat.

But Allen confirmed after the match that Johnson did not bite him during their scuffle in the first half.

He said: "People asked me at half-time what had happened and suggested I'd been bitten, but to clear it all up, that didn't happen.

"He might have caught a bit of my shirt but I think we can lay that one to rest."

In a statement on their club website, the Rams added: "Derby County does not expect, nor condone, any of its players to behave in the manner witnessed in the incident on Wednesday evening.

"The club will be conducting its own internal disciplinary hearing in relation to the matter and as such will make no further comment."

Both players were booked by the referee, with Johnson slammed by Sky Sports pundit Liam Rosenior.

He said: “Once you make a biting action you’re opening yourself up to all types of trouble.”

Johnson was already set to miss Saturday's clash against Swansea after he received his fifth booking.

But he will now also miss matches against Wigan, Nottingham Forest, Bristol City and Sheffield United.
