The 27-year-old rose for a header during the Europa League clash, only to fall awkwardly.

The Spaniard said after Arsenal's draw against Wolves: "His injury is a big injury. He had an operation on Friday.

"We spoke with him yesterday and today. We support him with our personal relationship between the player and the staff."

When will Danny Welbeck return?

Immediate thoughts from the injury from fans and players alike were that he would miss the rest of the season.

Emery said in his post-match conference on Sunday: "I think he is not going to be with us for a long time."

However, the Gunners boss refused to state just how long he would be missing the England attacker.

The Spaniard added: "I think it's better for the doctor to say to you."
