Nurmagomedov defeated McGregor in the main-event of UFC 229 via fourth round submission in October, successfully defending his lightweight title for the first time.
However, the fight did not stop there, as Nurmagomedov hopped out of the octagon and attacked McGregor’s team, brawling with MMA fighter Dillon Danis.
McGregor was also seen scrapping with his opponent's team, leaving both fighters to receive indefinite suspensions from the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
During an interview on The Project, White was criticised by Waleed Aly about the punishment both fighters received.
Aly claimed the UFC love ‘this stuff and it’s great for promotions’ — leaving White to defend the company.
White said: "We have a hearing in front of the Nevada Athletic State Commission coming up in December.
"They will lay down fines, suspensions and whatever else they're gonna do.
"And they're coming after me too for the promotion of the fight.
"It's really not good for business when things like that happen, we don't need that type of stuff to sell a fight.
"What am I going to do? Suspend them for another year? It doesn't make sense."
McGregor and Nurmagomedov will find out their fate when the NSAC hold a hearing on December 10, to discuss the unsavoury post-fight scenes.
Both fighters face uncertain futures as their next moves remain a mystery.
Nurmagomedov has been linked to a fight with No1 ranked UFC lightweight Tony Ferguson — a fight that has been on-and-off for years.
While McGregor’s next move seems even more complicated, as the Irishman admitted he would like an immediate rematch with Nurmagomedov, but also wants to fight in his home city of Dublin.
