Damning stats show Gareth Bale's Real Madrid decline as Welshman struggles to fill void left by Cristiano Ronaldo

The latest statistics prove that he has gone off the boil at the Bernabeu as he struggles to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Bale's shocking shot conversion rate has resulted in him scoring just 12 goals for the Spanish giants this season.

Statistics show that he needs nine shots to beat the rival goalkeepers this term – which is alarmingly high compared to previous seasons.

In the 2013/14 season he needed just five, in 2015/16 he needed six and last season he averaged five.

He set the bar high in his first season in Madrid when he scored 22 times before he managed 17 the following year.

Last season he scored 21 times, but the Wales international is looking off the pace this time around.

Since he arrived from Spurs in 2013, he has only managed to play 16,033 minutes of first-team football.

He has missed 115 matches – which is partly down to the fact that he has suffered 22 injuries in first five seasons.

During that time, he has scored 100 goals and made 63 assists.

And it's not just his mediocre performances on the pitch that are causing a stir at the Bernabeu.

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has called out the Wales international for not fitting in at Real Madrid.

The former Chelsea star revealed he is nicknamed "the golfer" and he criticised the 29-year-old's early bedtime.

Team-mate Marcelo has revealed that Bale hardly speaks in the dressing room because he is still yet to learn Spanish.
