Crystal Palace vs Everton delayed as keeper Guaita hilariously fails to take goal kick in gale force winds – The Sun

VICENTE GUAITA had a bit of a difficult start for Crystal Palace against Everton in their Premier League opener.

Guaita, 32, tried to take a goalkick in the first couple of minutes of the game.

But strong gale force winds meant the match was delayed before he could kick the ball out.

The gusts meant Guaita, who looked a little frustrated, had to place the ball down twice before launching it out of the penalty area.

Guaita was kept busy in the first half and he had to make an important block to deny Seamus Coleman.

Palace were more dangerous in the second 45 minutes but they had to settle for a point after Jordan Pickford's exploits.

Meanwhile, Wilfried Zaha was given a hero's welcome despite trying to force through a move to Everton on deadline day.

After the match, Eagles boss Roy Hodgson said: "He did quite well, he did what we hoped he would do – create opportunities, put Max Meyer in one v one, a couple of times he had to be bundled off the ball at the last minute.

"Of course, when you've been away for three weeks, he's such a natural phenomenon as an athlete but to get him back to full capacity will take him a week or two."
