Craig Carton allegedly pretended to be a ‘Hamilton’ producer

Sports-radio personality and accused fraudster Craig Carton may have once pretended to be a producer of “Hamilton,” Manhattan federal prosecutors revealed this week.

In newly filed court documents, prosecutors said the former WFAN host was behind a Gmail account that “was used to send an e-mail . . . purportedly from the producer” of the Broadway hit musical.

The name of the producer was withheld — and no details of the e-mails were given — but prosecutors raised the message in court papers because they are seeking to use it at Carton’s Oct. 29 trial to prove he was working with convicted scammer Joe Meli, who was sent the e-mail along with an investor Meli was seeking to woo.

The feds have already accused Carton of soliciting $4.6 million from a hedge fund to buy bulk tickets to events like “Hamilton” but then using the money for personal expenses, including to pay off gambling debts.

“The government’s motions are nothing more than allegations and ultimately a jury will have to decide,” said Carton’s lawyer, Robert Gottlieb.
