CONOR McGREGOR has been offered a return to the octagon at UFC 245 in Las Vegas by Dana White.
Irish star McGregor, 31, has been out the cage since October after being submitted in four rounds by arch nemesis Khabib Nurmagomedov.
An injury to his left hand halted plans for The Notorious to return at UFC 244 in New York, which will now be headlined by his rival Nate Diaz and ever growing star Jorge Masivdal.
However, UFC president White opened the door for McGregor to make a comeback a month after his initial return date.
White said: "I'm sure you saw his tweet. Conor wants to fight on December 14 in Dublin, but we have a fight in Vegas.
"So if he doesn't fight on that card, he will fight early next year."
McGregor has been linked with a rematch against Dustin Poirier, who was beaten by the Irishman in 2014 but bounced back to become interim lightweight champion this year.
Poirier was defeated by Nurmagomedov in Abu Dhabi this month but is willing to bounce back against former foe McGregor.
Lightweight Justin Gaethje is also in contention to face The Notorious on his anticipated return.
Since losing to Eddie Alvarez and Poirier, Gaethje has recorded three straight first round knockouts, against James Vick, Edson Barboza and last weekend Donald Cerrone.
The MMA veteran called for a title shot against Nurmagmedov, but will settle for a money-fight against McGregor – even challenging his rival directly on Instagram.
Gaethje added after his win against Cerrone: "If the little Irish f*** wants to come back then I'm right here, I'm the perfect guy to bring him back.
"I will never stray from the truth, it had nothing to do with fighting. If he wants to write some b*******.
“Facts are facts; you can't represent yourself in public like that and expect your child to respect what you do.
"You are a hero to your children and you are a fool if you think they won't follow in your footsteps.
"To see him treat people like that, do not represent yourself like that, I will never respect you."
