Conor McGregor hits out at Joe Rogan for hyping up Khabib vs Gaethje and claims he 'had a hangover' in loss to UFC champ

CONOR MCGREGOR has once again claimed he had a “hangover” during his defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018.

The Irishman was submitted in the third round before a huge post-fight melee ensued on a dramatic night against his rival at UFC 229 in Las Vegas.

After successfully defending the lightweight title against Dustin Poirier last September, Khabib is now due to face Justin Gaethje later this year.

Dagestani star Khabib recently lost his father but his return against the interim title holder is one many cannot wait to see.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan is among those and he enthusiastically took to Instagram to describe Gaethje as Khabib’s “most dangerous challenger” to date.

However, his remark did not go unnoticed by Notorious, and it appeared to have irked him.

McGregor commented on the post, saying: “Chill bro I’d a hangover.”

He admitted previously: “I was drinking all the way through fight week last time (for Nurmagomedov).

“I just had this venom in me or something. I don't know why.”

The 32-year-old made his Octagon return in January and demolished Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in less than a minute at UFC 246.

Despite announcing his retirement last month, he has been angling for a rematch against Khabib.

The former two-weight world champ told ESPN’s Ariel Helwani he broke his foot three weeks before their first clash and said it was like “balloon in there”.

McGregor also says it was a “half-committed camp” and he was also targeting a fight with Gaethje.

But The Highlight did not wait around for a big-money showdown and beat Edson Barboza and Cerrone to propel himself into title contention.

And his victory over Tony Ferguson in May sealed his shot at the undefeated Khabib.
