Chelsea want Callum Wilson in surprise £35m raid as Maurizio Sarri plots January transfer swoop for Bournemouth ace

The Bournemouth striker, who earned his first Three Lions call-up today, is on Maurizio Sarri’s radar after his stunning start to the season.

Sarri is looking to bolster his attack when the transfer window opens and Wilson is one of the most impressive forwards Chelsea have looked at.

The Italian has turned around Alvaro Morata’s form but is still after a forward to add competition.

Blues look set to be priced out of a move for Mauro Icardi, who is valued at £90m, and have also looked at Genoa’s Krzysztof Piatek.

But Wilson represents a striker who can fit straight away into a Premier League team.

The 26-year-old has fought back from two serious knee injuries since helping his club get promoted to the top flight – but has not suffered a slump in form when fit.

This season he has scored seven goals in 13 games to put himself in the mix for a first senior call-up.

England boss Gareth Southgate saw Wilson show a strong mentality to battle back and wanted to be reunited with a player he worked with at Under-21 level.

He could make his debut against USA on Thursday, with the Three Lions then facing Croatia in a Uefa Nations League Clash.
