Chelsea star Eden Hazard could be left out of squad to face BATE Borisov as he continues return to full fitness

The Belgian ace is slowly being eased back into the fray by Maurizio Sarri and the Italian may spare him for the long-haul journey to Belarus so he can regain full-fitness.

The Blues are in a strong position in Group L, having won three out of three games, and are poised to top the group.

And according to the Standard, Sarri feels it would be wise not to risk his star man for the 2,300 round trip to Minsk.

Chelsea have more than enough quality on the wings to overcome the Belarus champions – with Pedro, Wilian, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum-Hudson Odoi all available.

And after Kevin De Bruyne sustained another injury on his return from injury it may be more sensible to avoid risking the tricky winger.

Hazard made an immediate impact when coming on in Chelsea's 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday.

He whipped in a free-kick which was tidily finished by Alvaro Morata.

And the Belgian wizard is indispensable to the Stamford Bridge outfit – topping the scoring charts for the club this season with eight goals.

Pedro, who scored in Chelsea's win against Palace, stressed the importance of his team-mate in the side.

He said: "He's the most important player here. He's a star."

Chelsea face BATE Borisov in the Europa League on Thursday in Minsk.
