Chelsea ready to launch fresh transfer bid for Sevilla's Jules Kounde with French ace set to be keen on Stamford Bridge

CHELSEA are set to make a fresh bid for Sevilla star Jules Kounde, reports suggest.

According to Fichajes, Kounde appears keen to join the Blues as he wants to go to a top-tier European club that can challenge for the Champions League.

The centre-back proved his desire when he refused to board the plane with the rest of the Sevilla team last summer when the West Londoners' first offer arrived.

Chelsea are still very interested in the France international and are expected to come back with an improved bid at the end of the season.

The reigning European champions are facing the prospect of losing Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and captain Cesar Azpilicueta as their deals expire in June.

Kounde is seen as the perfect replacement for Rudiger, who has dismissed the club's latest offers to renew his contract.

The Frenchman has one goal and one assist in 28 appearances across all competitions this season.

Meanwhile, Sevilla are planning ahead and have identified Torino ace Gleison Bremer as Kounde's successor in Julen Lopetegui's defence.

Bremer is also seen as the perfect alternative to Diego Carlos, who was linked with a move to Newcastle during the January transfer window.

The Brazilian defender was also monitored by the Magpies as well as Inter Milan last month.

The 24-year-old has been enjoying a standout season in Serie A as he leads the way in clearances, blocks and interceptions.
