Chelsea outcast Gary Cahill 'turns down loan transfer to Juventus, Monaco and Fulham' to fight for place under Sarri

The English centre-back is still the Blues skipper, though, vice-captain Cesar Azpilicueta is a regular with the armband due to Cahill making just seven appearances this season.

Sky Sports report that Cahill was offered chances to leave Stamford Bridge last month, with Fulham, Juventus, and Monaco all vying for the 33-year-olds signature.

Cahill, who has won two Premier League titles and FA Cups, and a Champions League and Europa League trophy with Chelsea, decided he wanted to stay at Stamford Bridge.

The decision for the Chelsea captain to remain at the club and snub offers elsewhere marked a U-turn, as Fulham had agreed a deal with the Blues for Cahill.

It was understood Chelsea chiefs had hashed out a permanent deal – but Claudio Ranieri's side could not agree personal terms with the England international.

Cahill has made just one league appearance this season, coming against West Ham in September as he replaced Antonio Rüdiger after 21 minutes.

The 33-year-old has played in all but two of Chelsea’s Europa League games but has not featured in the Blues last five domestic cup games.

David Luiz and Rüdiger have emerged as Maurizio Sarri’s chief centre-halfs, with 22-year-old Andreas Christensen also making just 13 appearances.

Last season under Antonio Conte, Cahill made 43 appearances as part of Chelsea’s three man defensive line.

However, after Sarri reverted the formation from 3-4-3 to 4-3-3 the loss of an extra centre-back meant Cahill gave way in the side.

Sarri did, however, make the decision to keep Cahill as the clubs captain.
