Chelsea miss out on Italian sensation Nicolo Barella as Inter agree £44million fee

CalcioMercato claim the big-money deal for the midfielder is close to completion, ruling out a switch to West London.
Although the deal will be completed in the coming days, Barella will not make his move until the summer when he has completed the current season with Cagliari.
Last season the box-to-box ace scored six Serie A goals but has only managed one so far this term.
In the last three-and-a-half seasons the powerhouse has racked up 34 yellow cards in the league and three reds.

But he is a fully fledged Italy international now and has a bright future for club and country.
Italian newspapers have made comparisons with the Cagliari academy graduate and Liverpool and England hero Steven Gerrard.
But chances of him moving to England were slim as his wife is sex-months pregnant with their second child.

But he has admitted he feels the lure of the Premier League pulling at him eventually.
He said: “If I had to choose between Serie A and the Premier League, I'd go for England because I like the way they approach the game.
“Everyone there is just as irritable as me and are as prone to commit fouls as I am!”
