Chelsea fans think club are signing wrong Borussia Dortmund star with Christian Pulisic close to £70m move

SunSport reported yesterday how the Premier League giants are moving quickly to get the deal done in January.

His contract with Dortmund expires in 2020 and the German giants know they need to cash in now to avoid losing him for nothing in 2020.

Despite attempts at opening negotiations over a new bumper package, Pulisic has his heart set on leaving Signal Iduna Park.

But it's not the 20-year-old who Chelsea fans want but his team-mate with the German club Jadon Sancho.

One Blues fan wrote on Twitter: "Sancho is in the form of his life and keeping Pulisic out of the team.

"Wonder if we should target him instead of Pulisic.

"Doubt he will want to switch. But still worth a shot I guess."

Tomas Roberts posted: "Don't get why we get Pulisic and not Sancho who is much more talented and have better numbers in one season."

And another fan wrote: "Just a reminder that Pulisic gets benched by Sancho at Dortmund."

PULISIC OR SANCHO – THE NUMBERS THIS SEASON

Christian Pulisic

Age – 20

Appearances (all competitions) – 13

Goals  – 3

Assists –  2

Jadon Sancho

Age – 18

Appearances (all competitions) – 19

Goals – 5

Assists – 7

Twitter user "John" gave the prospect of Sancho and Callum Hudson-Odoi on the wings at Chelsea some high praise indeed.

He wrote: "Still rather have Sancho on the right than Pulisic though.

"Hudson-Odoi/Sancho wings could be levels ahead of Robben/Ribery."

And Chris Shutler was more damning, as he wrote: "Jadon Sancho has taken his spot at the club when Pulisic was supposed to be the best young talent at Dortmund. He ain’t ready to be a PL starter."

Even a Dortmund fan posted that Pulisic is a "fake talent" while Sancho is the "true talent".

Pulisic threw the door open to a Prem switch this week, saying: "England, the Premier League, is where lots of kids dream of playing so there is no reason why one day I won’t play here.

"We are having a great year at Dortmund and I am enjoying every moment of that.

"Then when the time comes for me to talk in the breaks about my future, that’s when those things will happen."

And some Chelsea fans believe he would actually be a good signing.

One Blues fan posted: Pulisic is a top player massive upgrade and still has potential to grow into a even better player. Stop moaning."

Tan Yong Leong wrote that Pulisic "would form a great partnership with Hazard".

And another fan, while believing Pulisic would be a good signing describes the £70m price tag as "ridiculous".

Dortmund have previously placed a £70m price tag on his head, but with his valuation dwindling by the month, Chelsea hope to negotiate a slightly lower deal once the window re-opens.

And his arrival would not be viewed as a direct replacement for any current Blues' stars, dispelling fears he was signing to fill a potential void left if Eden Hazard joins Real Madrid.
