Chelsea fans fume at Sarri after he says Hudson-Odoi may not start against Dynamo Kiev – because it's important

The Italian said he had not yet decided whether the 18-year-old would start the Europa League second leg against Dynamo Kiev – as he wanted his players to treat the clash as "an important game".

Chelsea travel to Ukraine with a comfortable 3-0 advantage, effectively making the second leg of the Europa League round-16 tie a dead rubber.

But Sarri has failed to reveal whether Hudson-Odoi, who has been struggling with playing time at Stamford Bridge despite having his winter move to Bayern Munich blocked, will start the game.

The 60-year-old coach told reporters in a press conference that he had not made up his mind whether to start the Chelsea starlet, as he "wanted to send his players the message that this was an important game".

And Blues fans slammed Sarri for the treatment of the teenager.

Chris wrote: "Does that mean if Callum plays a game it means it's not seen as important? What message does that send to him?"

While Kayelo added: "Way to boost the kids confidence…"

And Alex, recalling the Kepa-gate, joked: "If Sarri doesn’t want to start Hudson-Odoi then I will talk to Kepa."

Sarri has often been criticised for not giving Hudson-Odoi enough first-team chances, most recently for benching the youngster against Manchester United in the FA Cup.

The Italian also left the winger out of the squad for the crushing 6-0 defeat at the Etihad in February.

Hudson-Odoi has played just 103 minutes in the Premier League, but usually gets the nod in Europe – and he scored the third goal against Dynamo at Stamford Bridge last week.
