Chelsea could cash in on Callum Hudson-Odoi as Bayern eye £25million bid in January

The 18-year-old is yet to make a Premier League appearance this season, and will be out of contract in 2020. Blues boss Maurizio Sarri looks increasingly likely to cash in on the youngster while he can.

The forward is reportedly a transfer target for Bayern Munich, who are hoping to have the same success in recruiting young English players as Borussia Dortmund and Hoffenheim.

Germany’s Sport Bild report that the Bundesliga giants’ interest in the young winger is true, though they also note that Canadian prospect Alphonso Davies is already on Bayern’s books – and plays in the same position.

A fee in the region of £25 million has been mooted for Hudson-Odoi, who would otherwise be able to move for minimal compensation at the end of his contract.

The young Londoner will likely remain short of game time at Chelsea while Eden Hazard, Willian and Pedro remain fit – and his prospects will sink even further should Pulisic sign for the club.

Negotiations to bring the American starlet to the Bridge are said to be in advanced stages – though no fee has been agreed as yet.

Hudson-Odoi, a product of Chelsea’s academy, has been predicted a bright future since featuring in England’s U17 World Cup-winning side in 2017, while starring in his club’s treble-winning youth team in the same season.

Though he has broken into the first team squad this term, he has only appeared in the Blues’ Community Shield defeat to Manchester City and in four Europa League matches.

Despite impressing – and scoring – in their 4-0 home win over PAOK Salonika, the teenager may have been brought down to earth by his manager’s post-match comments.

Sarri told reporters: “I don’t know if he is able (enough) for the Premier League at 18, especially in a big team.”

Meanwhile Hudson-Odoi has seen his old U17 team mate Jadon Sancho shine in the Bundesliga, and be called up for the England senior squad under Gareth Southgate.
