Breeders' Cup 2018: Keep an eye on these British and Irish-trained horses at Churchill Downs

But who else is representing the British and Irish team at the two-day meeting? Here are some of the other horses to be keeping an eye on…

FRIDAY

7.21pm (UK time) Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (Listed)

Plenty of European representation in the first 'Breeders' Cup' race of the meeting.

The market is headed by Soldier's Call, Archie Watson's classy sprinter who was third in the Prix de l'Abbaye against older horses last time.

Aidan O'Brien is set to run Sergei Prokofiev, so impressive at Newmarket three weeks ago, and So Perfect.

Norfolk Stakes runner-up Pocket Dynamo will run for Robert Cowell, Well Done Fox will carry the colours of the late Leicester owner for Richard Hannon, while Queen Of Bermuda goes for William Haggas.

UP FOR THE CUP Everything you need to know about the Breeders' Cup 2018

8.00pm Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (Grade 1)

Europe's best hope on paper is Aidan O'Brien's Just Wonderful, who was an easy winner of the Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket in September.

Charlie Appleby has had a brilliant season and will be represented by La Pelosa, who won a Grade 1 in Canada last time out.

The Mackem Bullet, who cost just £9,000 as a yearling, was second in the Cheveley Park Stakes last time and gives Brian Ellison a first Breeders' Cup runner.

9.22pm Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (Grade 1)

The overseas raiders will be hopeful of success here having won last year's renewal with Mendelssohn.

Aidan O'Brien has the favourite in Anthony Van Dyck, who was third in the Dewhurst Stakes on his latest outing.

The progressive Line Of Duty lines up for Charlie Appleby, who's subsequent Derby hero Masar was an unlucky loser in this contest last season.

Royal Ascot hero Arthur Kitt will race from stall one for Tom Dascombe, while Mark Johnston is set to run Marie's Diamond.

10.43pm Marathon Stakes (Grade 2)

Just the one runner to focus on here, with Jamie Osborne's Toast Of New York the sole European representative.

The seven-year-old had the option of running in the Breeders' Cup Classic on Saturday, but connections have opted for this softer route.

SATURDAY

4.38pm Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (Grade 1)

Karl Burke's Havana Grey will have his final start here before he heads into retirement.

He won the Flying Five at the Curragh in September and will appreciate a bit of cut in the ground.

Lost Treasure is a tricky ride but could well be suited by the truly-run nature of this contest for Aidan O'Brien.

6.04pm Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (Grade 1)

Another race in which the Europeans have a good record.

Charlie Appleby, who won the race last year with Wuheida, trains the favourite Wild Illusion.

She won the Prix de l'Opera in France last month and won't mind the recent rainfall in Kentucky.

Magic Wand beat Wild Illusion when winning the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot and she holds strong claims for O'Brien, who also runs Athena.

Eziyra caught the eye when third in the Yorkshire Oaks but has been drawn widest of all in 14 for Dermot Weld.

7.36pm Breeders' Cup Mile (Grade 1)

Expert Eye is hunting an elusive top-level win and is one of the leading players for Sir Michael Stoute and Frankie Dettori.

The colt is one of several British and Irish challengers, with Aidan O'Brien running Gustav Klimt, I Can Fly and Happily.

Surprise Prix Foret winner One Master represents William Haggas, while Lightning Spear has his swansong here at the age of seven.

Stoute also runs Mustashry, while the French hold a strong hand with Polydream.

8.56pm Breeders' Cup Turf (Grade 1)

If all else fails for the Europeans, they should get one on the board here thanks to the brilliant Enable.

She will attempt to become the first Arc winner to follow up in the Breeders' Cup Turf, and she is long odds-on to get the job done.

Impressive British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes winner Magical represents Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore.

Hunting Horn is the Ballydoyle second string, while the French again launch a good challenge with Waldgeist and Talismanic.

9.44pm Breeders' Cup Classic (Grade 1)

The eye-catching name in here is Roaring Lion, who has been the champion three-year-old on turf in Europe this year.

He tackles dirt for the first time and has been handed a tough draw, so he looks up against it.

Mendelssohn has been campaigned in the US this year and should be up with the pace for Ballydoyle.

Saeed bin Suroor's Dubai World Cup winner Thunder Snow also chances his arm in the $6 million feature.
