Bob Marley's son praises Bohemians' shirt featuring his dad as 'dopest' he has ever seen

The design is the Irish side's tribute to the reggae icon who performed at Dalymount Park in 1980.

Although the shirt has been welcomed with mixed feelings amongst football fans on social media, Ky-Mani Marley, whose first album released in 1996 was titled 'Like Father Like Son', has appeared to appreciate Bohs' effort.

"This is the dopest shirt I've ever seen," Ky-Mani Marley has told BBC News NI. "I love it."

The Irish side, who are sixth in the Irish Premier Division, have commented that the kit is an acknowledgement of the musical heritage of their home Dalymount Park, in Dublin.

"Dalymount Park has played a unique part – chiefly in the sporting – but also in the musical and cultural history of Ireland," Bohemians' official website states.

"This jersey, designed by Bohemian FC in conjunction with our new kit supplier O’Neills, gives a nod to that history – and to the stadium’s special place in the hearts of both football and music fans."

Among the big names visiting the arena are Thin Lizzy in the 1970s, Bob Marley, Meatloaf and Black Sabbath in the 1980s, and Faith No More, Sonic Youth, Ice Cube and the Red Hot Chili Peppers in the 1990s.

Comedian PJ Gallagher, who modelled the new shirt alongside Bohs' Rob Cornwall said: “I love the new Bohs jersey.

"It’s a great design and it’s always great to see Dublin’s best club find new ways to celebrate their history and that of the Home of Irish Football.

“To be honest I was hoping for a Johnny Logan jersey but maybe that’ll be next season. What’s another year?”

Bohemians have already sold out the first batch of the Marley-themed kit, priced at £52, that would allow the fans to show off their new shirts right before Christmas.

Other clubs across Britain, inspired by the Bohemians' jersey, rushed to dwell on the idea showing some mocked designs of their own on social media.
