Bayern Munich want Chelsea striker Werner and have ‘concrete interest’ in making surprise transfer bid

BAYERN MUNICH are set to launch a surprise bid for Chelsea forward Timo Werner, according to reports.

The 25-year-old German struggled to adapt to the Premier League during his first season with the Blues.

He managed just 12 goals in 52 games and was often ridiculed for his inability to finish off chances.

But that does not seem to have deterred Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich from their pursuit of the former RB Leipzig man.

According to Football Insider, the German title winners have a 'concrete interest' in signing Werner.

Chelsea acquired his services last summer for the hefty price of £47.5million.

And with four years left on his current deal, Thomas Tuchel's outfit will almost certainly want a huge fee if they are to consider selling him after just 12 months.

However, it was reported earlier this week that Chelsea would be open to selling Werner in order to raise funds to buy either Harry Kane or Erling Haaland.

An alternative for the Blues is they may choose to offer Tammy Abraham as part of a swap deal with Spurs for Kane.

Abraham looks set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after falling out of favour with manager Thomas Tuchel.

The Chelsea boss has already let one striker go, with France international Olivier Giroud completing a reported £2m switch to AC Milan.

Meanwhile, Bayern's only major arrival so far this summer was one that had been agreed before the end of last season.

That was the signing of Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano for £38.25m, who had previously been linked to both Chelsea and Manchester United.
