Barcelona beat Man City to Jean-Clair Todibo who broke leg in horror car crash

The 19-year-old has been rewarded for a meteoric rise after recovering from a horrific car accident and only making his professional debut this season.

City had been chasing the Toulouse man after learning that his contract was expiring in the summer.

Liverpool and Wolves had also been linked with the France Under-20 ace.

Clubs would only need to agree a compensation fee and his sky-high potential means it could be a bargain deal.

But Barcelona have swooped and secured a move that will see him join the club on July 1.

It was reported how Barca sporting director Eric Abidal has played a crucial role in swaying his compatriot’s decision.


Todibo revealed how the car accident at the age of nine could have easily ended his football career before it had even begun.

Speaking to La Depeche, he said: "It was May 24, I was nine at the time,

“I was leaving my house to go to judo, I crossed the road and a car knocked me down. It turned into a big accident.

“I had an injury on both my leg bones and down to the ankle, and there were several fractures.

“We weren’t really sure if he’d ever play football again,”
