Arsenal set for transfer budget boost as former midfielder Jeff Reine-Adelaide seals £23m switch to Lyon – The Sun

ARSENAL are set to receive an unlikely transfer budget boost when their former midfielder Jeff Reine-Adelaide seals a £23million switch to Lyon.

The Gunners still have first refusal on the 21-year-old but are unlikely to be interested in bringing the youngster back to north London.

Unai Emery oversaw a busy transfer window at the Emirates with the summer additions of Kieran Tierney and club-record signing Nicolas Pepe.

But Arsenal's funds are set to be be given a slight increase after Lyon reached an agreement with Angers for Reine-Adelaide, with Ouest France claiming that the Gunners will receive 10 per cent of the fee.

Goal reported that the Premier League giants have first refusal on the midfielder, but are unlikely to be interested in bringing him back to the club.

The transfer window for English clubs closed last Thursday meaning that Arsenal could not even register his signing until January.

While Arsenal haven't exercised their option to resign Reine-Adelaide, they will net around £2.3m from the sale to Lyon once he completes his medical.

The highly-rated star made the switch the Emirates from Lens in 2015.

But the attacking midfielder failed to fulfill his huge potential and made just eight first-team appearances in his three years with the Gunners.

The French youth international left north London last summer to join Angers after being told he was surplus to requirements by Emery.
