Arsenal send scouts to watch AC Milan ace Suso and Cagliari's Barella ahead of summer transfer swoop

Reports in Italy suggest a Gunner scout was at the San Siro on Sunday casting an eye over Milan winger Jesus Suso.

And tuttomercatoweb say Arsenal were also running the rule over Cagliari's central midfielder Nicolo Barella.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery is looking to make swinging changes to his side over the close season as he overhauls the squad he inherited from Arsene Wenger.

Aaron Ramsey's departure on a free transfer to Juventus has freed up a role in the centre of the side next season, an area Emery is particularly keen on strengthening.

And it is clear he also wants to bring in a wide player, given the club's pursuit of Ivan Perisic and Yannick Carrasco in the January transfer window.

So the opportunity to take in two of the players who have caught the eye in one match was too good to turn down for the Gunners.

A scout watched as Suso turned in an impressive display, helping Milan to a 3-0 win which cemented their fourth-placed position in the table.

The 25-year-old Spaniard has flourished in Italy since his move to Milan in 2015 having failed to make an impact at Liverpool after coming through the academy system there.

Suso has since gone on to make four appearances for the national team and Emery is considering trying to bring him back to the Premier League with a summer bid.

Barella, 22, has been attracting the attention of a number of top sides around Europe despite Calgliari struggling in the bottom half of Serie A.

Chelsea showed strong interest in the Italian international in the January transfer window, but were put off by the club's £45million asking price.

That could be a stumbling block for the Gunners, who have told Emery there is not a huge pot of money available for him to spend in the summer.

It means Emery may have to sell to finance more signings, with the likes fo Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan both on big money but struggling to make an impact.
