    WIL I NEVER

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is going to give William Saliba an opportunity this coming season.

That is according to the Daily Express, who claim Arteta will still be counting on Saliba even if the Gunners sign Brighton ace Ben White.

The centre-back joined the north Londoners in 2019 from St-Etienne.

Arsenal then loaned him back to the same club and did the same a year later after striking a deal with Nice.

    WHYTE HOT

Exclusive by Gary Stonehouse: Derek Whyte cried when Scotland qualified for Euro 2020 – now he has urged Kieran Tierney and Co to have ‘no regrets’.

He said: “Every time Scotland get to a tournament it seems to end in a glorious failure.

“But I’m quietly confident this year. I really like Stevey Clarke and he has not got any superstars in his squad – but what he does have is plenty of players playing in the Premier League.

“That’s unusual from the last couple of years but as long as they do the country proud then that is all we are asking for.”

He added: “I just want them to give it everything, have no regrets and you just never know.

“Football is a funny old game and it might be a bit of brilliance or madness with someone getting sent-off against you in a game you are not expected to win.

“Just make sure when you do come home it’s with no regrets.”

    TRY AND NAB HIM

Arsenal saw their initial transfer offer for Nabil Fekir rejected, according to reports.

The Gunners are on the hunt for an attacking midfielder this summer.

But AS state their attempt to land Fekir from Real Betis proved unsuccessful.

The Frenchman, 27, is Betis’ highest earner and continues to be linked with a move away after the LaLiga club finished sixth last term.

But boss Manuel Pellegrini is keen to keep hold of his talisman.

So it will take a significant offer to convince Real Betis to sell.

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek and Lazio striker Joaquin Correa are big new names at the top of Gunners' transfer gossip.

Arsenal have reportedly contacted United about Holland and ex-Ajax star Van de Beek.

And it's claimed the Gunners have already bid £17.2million for Argentina ace Correa – but Lazio are holding out for around £25.8m.

Emirates chief Mikel Arteta is prioritising a midfield replacement for men like Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira.

But he also wants long-term answers up front after unconvincing seasons for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

And Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is thought to be keen on giving Martin Odegaard a chance to shine this coming season.

That's a big blow to Arteta's hopes of extending the Norway creator's loan.

And in a Q&A session with fans on Twitter, Premier League winner Fabregas, 34, talked up his team-mate’s potential.

However, when one cheeky fan asked: “Will Tchouameni be a good signing for Chelsea? What are his strengths?” Fabregas was quick to say he hoped he would play alongside Tchouameni for years to come.

Fabregas, replying with a winking emoji, wrote: “He has the potential to be the complete midfielder. Modern midfield player, but we need him still… sorry.”

Combative Tchouameni made 42 appearances for Monaco last season, scoring three goals.
