Arsenal have no plans to sack Unai Emery and are ‘100 per cent’ behind manager despite alarming slump – The Sun

ARSENAL have no plans to sack Unai Emery despite fans anger and a dreadful run of form.

Defeat at Leicester left the Gunners eight points adrift of the top four which will increase if Man City get a result against Liverpool.

Supporters have been calling for the axe to swing on the Spaniard after a shambles both on and off the pitch.

The decision to strip Granit Xhaka of his captaincy after mouthing at his own fans to "f*** off" only encapsulates the shambles at the club.

Despite being favourite to be the next Premier League match to be sacked, the Athletic report that the Arsenal hierarchy are more than happy to remain patient and assess his position at the end of the season.

The board strongly believe that Emery has the ability to turn around results and boost the atmosphere in the stands.

Since taking over from Arsene Wenger in the summer of 2018, Emery's side have shown little improvements and defensive frailties remain at large.

But the club remarkably believe that the side are making progress.

They haven't won in the league since beating Bournemouth in the first week of October and have picked up three points in just one of their last six matches.

The Arsenal board believe the upcoming international break will give the club and manager a chance to regroup with a bunch of favourable fixtures coming up.

They entertain struggling Southampton next before league clashes against Norwich, Brighton and West Ham.

A string of poor results on those fixtures may make the likes of owner Stan Kroenke reassess matters.
