Arsenal boss Unai Emery to give Petr Cech chance to win back No1 spot against Blackpool

Veteran keeper Cech, 36, started Arsenal’s first seven league games before a hamstring injury.

Summer signing Bernd Leno has impressed in his absence.

But Gunners chief Emery confirmed Cech is back for Carabao Cup last-16 duty.

Emery said: “In each match, we are going to give the goalkeepers the opportunity to help us.

“We’re looking for confidence in each of them. But Cech will start after coming back from injury.”

Tonight’s tie is injury-hit Arsenal’s fourth match in ten days so Emery will rest a few stars ahead of hosting Liverpool on Saturday.

But the Spaniard said: “We’ll have a mix in order to get the best performance and to respect Blackpool.

“For us, this cup is very important. It’s a chance to win a trophy.”

Emery remains keens to boost his depleted squad.

And Ajax's Argentina left-back Nicolas Tagliafico, 26, is reportedly an £8million target for January.

Barcelona's former Borussia Dortmund winger Ousmane Dembele has also been linked with the Gunners – as have Chelsea and Liverpool.
