Arsenal and Manchester United step up pursuit of Lille winger Nicolas Pepe

Both Manchester United and Arsenal want to bring the Ivory Coast international to England, thanks to his goal scoring exploits in Ligue 1.

The winger has scored eight goals in 12 games in the French league and as a result was named the player of the month for September; beating Kylian Mbappe and Neymar to the award.

Pepe, 22, is one of the most wanted men in Europe at present, having attracted interest from a whole host of clubs, including Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

But both Jose Mourinho and Unai Emery hope to make a swoop for the star, who they have been monitoring for several months.

United and Arsenal both sent representatives to watch Pepe in action against Dijon this weekend.

They saw the 22-year-old score from the spot as his side pinched a 2-1 win, their seventh victory of the season.

Lille face defending champions, PSG, next weekend.

The Ivory Coast international will have to prove himself against the big boys in the league.

Pepe's form has helped his side storm up the table, but they are currently eight points behind PSG.

Lille turned down an offer from Southampton during the last transfer window, but if a Premier League power house flash the cash, they may be unable to turn down an offer.
