Arsenal agree deal to sign Romanian starlet Catalin Carjan later this year

The Gunners had spotted the 15-year-old playing for his local side last season and invited him for a trial after monitoring his games.

And the young midfielder has revealed he will now be making the move to the Emirates later this year.

Carjan turns 16 in December, and he will then be old enough to sign Academy forms allowing him to leave his home and move to London.

Speaking to Digi Sport, Carjan said: "It’s something else.

“It’s a big difference I cannot wait to go there to sign and it’s going to be much better.

“I will sign when I’m 16. They’ve been watching me for more matches and that was it – after that they sent me the tickets to go to them.

“They told me that I was a good player and that they wanted me to go to the big team in two years.”

The Gunners have yet to confirm the signing officially, although Carjan has been pictured at the Emirates in front of the club's crest.

Arsenal are undergoing a major overhaul since the departure of Arsene Wenger following a 22-year reign in charge.

The coaching set-up and scouting operation has been revamped over the past year, and the hope is the club can produce more players able to make the transition into the first team.

Arsenal's academy has produced a clutch of youngsters who are now on the verge of forcing their way into the first team plans of such as Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Reiss Nelson.
