Arsenal agony as ex-star Serge Gnabry, 23, named Bayern Munich Player of the Year… despite leaving Gunners for cut-price £5m

EX-ARSENAL man Serge Gnabry has been announced as Bayern Munich's player of the season after leaving the Gunners for just £5 million back in 2016.

The 23-year-old German has impressed for both club and country since moving away from the Emirates, and the London club are living to regret selling him.

Gnabry was once tipped to be an Arsenal star under former manager Arsene Wenger, but the Frenchman gave him just 10 Premier League appearances before selling the forward to Werder Bremen 3 years ago.

Since then he's gone on to score 31 Bundesliga goals and earned himself a move to Bayern Munich last summer.

After scoring 13 goals and registering 9 assists across all competitions in the 2018/19 campaign, he's been voted the German champions' player of the season.

This is an incredible feat, considering the club won the double last season, including the Bundesliga trophy.

To achieve this success, fellow teammate Robert Lewandowski scored 40 times, while full-back Joshua Kimmich got 19 assists.

The striker has also performed on the international stage, scoring 7 goals in just 8 matches so far.

This includes the screamer he netted against the Netherlands after Ballon d'Or favourite, Virgil van Dijk, failed to stop him.

With Unai Emery only able to spend £40m in this transfer window, the Spaniard will be wondering what could've been if Gnabry had stayed at the club.
