Arizona State takes late lead, stuns No. 1 Kansas

Kansas entered Wells Fargo Arena the No. 1 team in the country, but left with a 80-76 loss to No. 19 Arizona State Saturday night.

It is the second time in two seasons that the Sun Devils have upset the Jayhawks. Last year, it happened in Allen Fieldhouse when the Jayhawks were ranked No. 2.

Saturday's upset looked unlikely for most of the game.

Kansas opened the game with back-to-back 3-pointers and the Sun Devils spent the next 37 minutes play from behind. Arizona State took its first lead with 2 minutes to play when Remy Martin hit a runner in the paint.

Kansas tied the game at 76-all, only to have Martin do it again.

Down 78-76, the Jayhawks had a chance to get the tie or win, but instead turned the ball over with an over-and-back.

Arizona State (9-2) iced the game with two more free throws for final score.
