Andy Murray given bloody nose by ten-month-old daughter Edie ahead of US Open clash with Fernando Verdasco

The Brit is preparing to play in the second round of the US Open after battling past James Duckworth in his Grand Slam comeback on Monday.

But daughter Edie has done her dad no favours by busting his nose less than 24 hours before show time.

Father-of-two Murray, 31, uploaded a picture of himself nursing a bloody nose with a tissue, captioned: "When playing with your 10 month old daughter gets a bit too physical!"

Roger Federer famously underwent knee surgery after injuring himself running a BATH for his twin daughters.

Two-time Wimbledon winner Murray – also a father to two-year-old Sophia – will be hoping tonight's tie with Verdasco is not too physical having just returned from a serious hip injury.

Searing 36C heat has turned Flushing Meadows into a sweat bath, causing fans to faint, five players to retire and Novac Djokovic to take an on-court ice-bath.

But Muzza is combating the extreme temperatures by devouring huge helpings of sushi, eggs and bacon.

Speaking after his win against Australian Duckworth, he said: "I’ve lost a lot of matches out here over the years. I’ve struggled on this court, but it’s like a new beginning.

"It’s beautiful. It’s a little bit more sheltered.

"The sun went behind this bit of the roof, which was probably nice for everyone watching as well as the players.

"It was beautiful and a great atmosphere for the first day of the tournament. I’m very happy to be back.”
