Amir Khan and Kell Brook fight edges closer

Kell Brook has revealed he and Amir Khan shook hands on their British mega-fight.

The rivals were both ringside to see Tony Bellew lose to Oleksandr Usyk in his retirement bout on Saturday night.

And Brook, who will first fight Michael Zerafa on December 8 in Sheffield, believes a deal is now close.

"He’s just seen me. He’s just come up to me, I just come up to him,’ Brook told iFL TV .

"We"ve just met and he’s looked me in the eye, shook my hand and said it is happening. If he starts coming out with something else again, what can I do?"

Khan wants to fight at welterweight and is refusing to budge on his insistence that neither man can rehydrate beyond a certain limit before the morning of the fight.

And Brook added: "He didn’t want to listen to that part of it. I said there’s no world title on the line, what you playing at? He’s saying, ‘This is what we need to do brother’.

"Let’s just fight, Battle of Britain. Let’s see who the main man is because I’m the governor, me. I’m the man. Me."

Earlier on Saturday night Khan had told Sky Sports he is ready to sign for the fight.

He said: "I’m ready. i want it; I had a meeting with Eddie Hearn and I want the right.

“Kell’s fighting on December 8 – my birthday – but he’s fighting someone else.

“Let’s hope it happens in March. I want Wembley stadium.”
