4pm Chelsea news: Eden Hazard thanks Joe Cole, Andreas Christensen unsure on Blues stay and Sarri beaten

Read on below to find out why, plus all the other latest news, views and gossip from around Stamford Bridge.

HAZ ABOUT THAT

EDEN HAZARD has revealed the greatest thing Joe Cole ever did for the Blues.

The Belgian star claimed it was the ex-England midfielder – who announced his retirement today – that persuaded him to move to Stamford Bridge from Lille.

DEFENDING THE BRIDGE

ANDREAS CHRISTENSEN has hinted that he may not be sticking around at Stamford Bridge for the long-term.

The Danish centre-back has struggled for game time under new boss Maurizio Sarri and was unconvincing when asked about handing in a transfer request.

FAB IDEA

CESC FABREGAS was hailed a "genius" after his very sneaky way of trying to gain an advantage during Chelsea's draw with Everton – moving the vanishing spray.

The Spanish midfielder, 31, was so desperate to gain an extra foot ahead of a free-kick, he did something we've never seen before, scooping up the foam and placing it down closer to the goal.

'IT HAS BEEN A DREAM COME TRUE'

FORMER Chelsea, West Ham and Liverpool star Joe Cole has announced his retirement from football at the age of 37.

The England midfielder, who won 56 caps for his country, brings the curtain down on a 20-year career that ended with the Tamba Bay Rowdies in the United Soccer League in America.

JUVE LOST OUT TO MAX

JUVENTUS boss Max Allegri has seen off Chelsea’s Maurizio Sarri to be named Best Italian Coach of 2018.

The five-time Serie A winner has scooped the prestigious Panchina d’Oro award for a record fourth time after guiding Juve to another title last season.

WONDERKID

CHELSEA are eyeing up a move for Lithuanian teen sensation Vilius Piliukaitis – but will face strong competition for the Blackburn loanee.

The 17-year-old has only played in youth matches so far, but is also interesting Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool.

CONT-PAY

CHELSEA will have to pay former boss Antonio Conte £11.3million after he vowed to remain jobless until June.

The Blues must pay the Italian for the final year of his contract should he decide to continue his sabbatical – and the figure could increase if the manager wins £8.7m in damages.

NAB A CALL

MAURIZIO SARRI personally phoned Nabil Fekir to give Blues an edge when the January transfer window opens.

The Lyon midfielder saw a deal fall through with Liverpool in the summer – but the Chelsea boss hopes to sign the £50m-rated star ahead of Bayern Munich.

"THAT'S A JOKE"

ANTONIO RUDIGER was left dumbfounded after branding his yellow card a joke in the draw against Everton.

The German defender feels wronged after stating he was booked for being head-butted by the Toffees' Bernard.

FRESH ED

EDEN HAZARD has revealed the three months he missed last season is the reason for his blazing form this term.

The Belgian star also admitted he is feeling the effects of his nation's run to the semi-finals at the World Cup – but is fresher than he should be.

NOTHING ELSE MOR-ATTERS

ALVARO MORATA has insisted it doesn't matter if he scores goals, as long as Chelsea win.

The Chelsea striker has often divided opinion – but after being preferred to Olivier Giroud, the Spaniard has netted three times in two games.

WELCOME RUG

CHELSEA target Daniele Rugani has hinted that he could be moving to the Premier League after posting a photo of him learning English with his girlfriend Michaela Persico.

The Juventus defender has been heavily linked with a move to either the Blues or local rivals Arsenal.

IT'S HAZARDOUS

EDEN HAZARD has revealed he is feeling the 'wear and tear' of the tackles he receives from Premier League rivals.

The Belgian has been doing yoga since joining Chelsea in a bid to keep himself fit and strong.

AKE-ING TO HAVE HIM BACK

Howe fears the Dutch 23-year-old will be sold in January or at the end of the season, with several top clubs impressed with his form.

The south coast club will hold out for a huge fee and their valuation is no secret to Ake’s fan club at home and abroad.

SAND BAG

CHELSEA are set to rival a host of Italian sides to land Brescia wonderkid Sandro Tonali – dubbed the next Andrea Pirlo, according to reports.

The 18-year-old is so highly rated that he has already earned a call-up to the national side despite playing in Serie B.

ROB JOY AT BLUES LINK

ROBERTO PEREYRA admits he is thrilled to be strongly linked with Chelsea.

Watford's Argentine attacker has made a blistering start to the new season, with five goals in ten Premier League matches.

WIL POWER

CALLUM WILSON is the latest strike target for Chelsea after the £35m-rated attacker impressed for Bournemouth.

But the big question is: Would he be an upgrade on current Blues' forwards Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud?

Do Chelsea have a darker side?

By DUNCAN WRIGHT

JORGINHO and Marcos Alonso show there is a nasty bite to Chelsea to go with the pretty Sarri-ball.

Maurizio Sarri has got the Blues playing with far more freedom than in recent years allowing the magical skills of Eden Hazard to flourish.

But in a fiercely contested clash with Everton there was something of the dark arts about some of his players as they left their mark on their visitors in a more rudimentary way.

RUBEN RIDDLE

RUBEN LOFTUS-CHEEK'S unimpressive display against BATE Borisov showed that he may not have the consistency to become a firm Chelsea regular.
