  • CHELSEA have put brilliant Ben White on their wanted list for a shock January transfer window swoop.

SunSport exclusively reveal Frank Lampard’s scouts are raving about the 22-year-old Brighton centre-half, who is starring on loan at high-flying Leeds this season.

Lamps will make a big offer for White as he looks for an extra defender now Chelsea have been cleared to spend after their Fifa transfer ban was cut.

White has been a huge hit for Leeds with his skilful, ice-cool displays as they storm the Championship.

Brighton do not want to lose White but a £25million offer may make it hard to resist, especially as he would also be tempted by a move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are so serious about White that they see him going into their first team quickly.

  • PAUL MERSON has criticised Frank Lampard following Bournemouth's win against Chelsea.

The Sky Sports pundit said: “They definitely didn’t deserve to lose but they didn’t dominate Chelsea. I watch Chelsea a lot and if you can get through the first 20 minutes against them, their confidence seems to go.

“They’ve got a lot of young players and they are easy to play against sometimes. The pitch looks so small for the way they want to play, it just looks to easy to defend against.

“With Frank, it’s not a good day at the office for him. It was 0-0 and sometimes you have to swallow the pill and settle for a draw.

“He takes off Jorginho and brings on Hudson-Odoi and Batshuayi. Tammy Abraham was already on so he has all these forwards on, everyone is bumping into each other.

“I think Chelsea will need to go into the market next month. This is a crisis now. If other results go the wrong way for them, their lead [over the top-four] could be down to two points.

“They’ve got Tottenham away next. It’s hard for them now. I think they have to go in the market. This squad, for me, doesn’t get into the top four.”

  • FRANK LAMPARD fumed at his Chelsea side after their loss to Bournemouth, saying they were 'not a team I want to manage'.

Lampard commented: “In front of our fans we're not playing well enough and getting enough results.

“Today wasn't a 'we've created a load of chances day' – we created two or three great chances and we need to take them if we want to improve.

“But today we didn't get the fans excited enough. The fans shouldn't be excited if we're playing 10 balls across our back four.

“That's not a team I want to manage.

“I'll be the first one to say when the fans were flat as I'm a Chelsea man, but I wouldn't say that today.

“As if I was there as a Chelsea fan today I'd be sitting there saying 'too slow – centre-back to centre-back, to full-back, to centre-back, to full-back' and I don't want to come and see that.

“I won't blame the fans. They come to support the team – they'll go to Tottenham next week and then back here on Boxing Day.

“And some responsibility is on the players to excite them and have the personality to take the ball and beat someone.

“I can't find anyone wanting in terms of how we apply ourselves but what we do on the pitch is the main thing, and at the moment it's not good enough.”
