EDEN HAZARD needed to quit Chelsea for the sake of his career, according to Zinedine Zidane.

Hazard completed a £150million move to Real Madrid earlier this summer after seven seasons spent at Stamford Bridge.

And Zidane is adamant the playmaker needed a change of scenery.

He said: “This club has something special and the players know it.

“I arrived at 29 years old and I still had a lot left.

“I spent five years in this club and I had a better time, I improved with 29 years.”

KURT ZOUMA does have a future at Chelsea after impressing new boss Frank Lampard.

Featuring in all three of the Blues' pre-season matches so far, the French centre-back started Friday's surprise defeat to Kawasaki Frontale.

Zouma spent the last two seasons on loan at Stoke and Everton, the latter club hoping to make his move permanent after a solid spell on Merseyside.

But Lampard has no interest in letting the 24-year-old leave.

Speaking in Yokohama, he said: “In terms of Kurt Zouma, he’s a very good defender for us, very good player, very good person and professional.

“I want him here, simple as that.

“We are competitive with the centre-backs we have in the team and he had a very good season at Everton and I can understand why they want him.

“He’s a Chelsea player and I want him.”
