The stereotype of the greasy gamer just got a boost, thanks to a competition offering Xbox players the chance to win a takeaway-resistant controllers.

Players who don’t have time to put down their pads while they’re chowing down on fried chicken now have a solution in the form of the limited edition ‘greaseproof’ controller.

Only five of the custom-built Microsoft gadgets have been made and competition winners will have to wow a panel of judges with tales of their gaming exploits.

The stereotype of the greasy gamer just got a boost, thanks to a competition offering Xbox players the chance to win a a takeaway resistant controllers. It coincides with the official launch of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, an online multiplayer battle royale game 

The competition to win one of the grey and yellow urethane-coated controllers was announced by Microsoft on its Xbox ANZ Facebook page, which is aimed at players in Australia and New Zealand.

It coincides with the official launch of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, an online multiplayer battle royale game developed and published by PUBG, on the console.

The connection between fried chicken and the game comes from the ‘Winner Winner Chicken Dinner’ message displayed when a player winds a round of the last man standing battles.

WHAT IS PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS?

Since its preview release in March, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds has taken the PC gaming service Steam by storm. 

It earned an impressive £8.5 million ($11 million) during its first weekend on Early Access, selling more than one million copies in its first month.

The  multiplayer survival game see up to 100 players parachute out of an aircraft and onto a huge island.

They must immediately arm themselves with whatever weapons they can scavenge from abandoned towns, factories, and military bases.

The battlefield gets progressively smaller as players fight it out to the death, until one emerges victorious.

Writing in the post, a spokesman for Xbox said: ‘Get ready to control the battleground with our limited edition Greaseproof controller celebrating the launch of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

‘Just reply below with your best “Winner Winner Chicken Dinner” story for your chance to win 1 of 5 controllers.’

The post has attracted more than 1,000 comments since it was published, so competition is likely to be fierce.
