The viral video, which was only published three days ago, has already been seen more than 2.2 million times. Tik Tok user @bijankhaz filmed the unidentified flying object (UFO) over Mount Umunhum in the Santa Cruz Mountains, California. The video appears to show a glowing, circular orb slowly moving across the sky.
A group of men can be heard shouting in the background when one yells: “What the f*** is that? What? It’s a UFO.”
Another man says: “I need to get out of here,” and a third says: “That’s no f****** bird.”
The video then pans to the right as four fighter jets appear to fly in the UFO’s direction.
A man is then heard in the video as he asks: “Are we in trouble?”
Nearly 8,000 people have commented on the clip with some expressing their disbelief while others praised the footage.
One Tik Tok user said: “It took tens of years to finally have someone record with a good quality phone and not record with their HP laptop.”
Another person said: “When the Air Force is flying by you know it’s real.”
And a third person said: “Everybody needs to know that in just a few days this video will be taken down for no reason why because that’s how the gov. works.”
However, Dan Povenmire, voice actor and creator of the cartoon Phineas and Ferb, suggested the UFO was simply a mylar balloon.

He said: “Mylar balloon, keeps changing colours as it reflects the Sun.”
Another Tik Tok user agreed, saying: “It’s a balloon. These pilots are flying in a training formation. Have a good day.”
And yet, self-appointed UFO expert and conspiracy theorist Scott C Waring believes the footage is of the real deal.
Mr Waring, who runs the blog UFO Sightings Daily, said: “The video looks real and you can hear others asking where it went because it’s hard to see.

“The camera guy zooms in on it nicely and even catches sight of a fleet of US military fighter jets heading in its direction.
“The video is cut short so we don’t get to see what happens, but clearly the US military was interested in it and saw it on radar.
“100 percent proof UFOs are over California this week.
“The UFO is seen with a hole in it… but it’s no hole, it’s flying on its side and that is its hump or cockpit of the disk.”
It is, however, much more likely the UFO is a mylar ballon – a glossy balloon made out of polyester resin and shiny foil on the outside.
Mylar balloons are often filled with helium and sold for birthdays and other parties.
One Tik Tok user said: “When it moves like a mylar ballon and reflects like a mylar balloon, it’s probably a mylar balloon.”
Another person said: “Not to be SO boring but I’m 95 percent sure that’s a weather balloon and the Air Force was just a coincidence.”
A third sceptic added: “It’s a balloon with the Sun reflecting off of it.”
