‘Tupac is alive’ say up to 2.8 million Brits as survey shares conspiracy beliefs

It’s time when rumours and fake news are circulating like never before –Twitter has even had to ban people posting fake COVID-19 cures such as drinking bleach and swallowing colloidal silver.

But some myths will never die.

A survey collecting Brits’ opinions on some of the most persistent conspiracy theories found that 5.3% of us believe that Tupac Shakur faked his own death and is living somewhere in the US or the Caribbean.

If the 5.3% of Tupac truthers revealed in the survey are definitely representative of beliefs in the nation as a whole, that means something like 2.8 million people in the UK are convinced that the California Love star is still alive.

The numbers suggest that the younger you are, the more likely you are to believe that you’re still sharing a planet with Tupac: 11.14% of Millennials (aged 25-34) are convinced by the theory, sliding down to 0.62 of baby Boomers (55+).

That may be partly related to the fact that older people weren't even sure who he was.

The youngest generation surveyed – the 16-24 "generation Z" group – are less convinced than the Millennials. Only 9.6% of them still think Tupac’s alive But then he was a bit before their time.

There's even a movie about the theory: 2Pac: The Great Escape From UMC is centred on the claim that after the 1996 Las Vegas shooting Tupac realised it was only a matter of time before an attempt on his life would prove successful and went into hiding on a Navajo reservation in the New Mexico area.

Filmmaker Rick Boss, says Tupac is still there today.

To support his claims, he says that Tupac’s family have approved of the contempt of his film, which they wouldn’t do if they knew it was a lie.

“Let’s just say Mr. Shakur — the family is aware of the movie,” he told KTNV.

"They’re okay with the title, so that should tell you more or less what’s going on.”

“This is not a fiction. This is facts through certain people I know,” he maintains.

The TopCasino Lying Survey data also revealed that nearly half of us have doubts about the Moon landings, over 60% are somehow managing to remain ignorant of climate change, and a small but impressive 4.25% of Brits like to think that the Earth is flat.

What about you? Are you convinced that the All Eyez on Me star is still out there, somewhere?
