Top docs warn men against taking part in ‘No Nut November’ because of blue balls

Males taking part in No Nut November are being warned the infamous November tradition could cause more issues than they might expect.

Starting yesterday (November 1), some men set themselves a challenge of not pleasuring themselves for the entirety of the month of November.

It also means that anyone taking part can't have sex for the month, either.

However, experts have warned the challenge is actually quite dangerous to men, and could cause serious health issues.

Dr Rena Malik, who has her own popular YouTube channel, posted a video explaining the dangers of taking part in the challenge – and detailed just how sex and masturbation can actually be a good thing.

She said: “There's a number of benefits to masturbation including better sleep, decreased heart rate, decreased stress and a lot of increase in feel good hormones.

"People [taking part in No Nut November] can get a lot of pain and discomfort in their pelvic floor, or their testicles.

“A lot of you guys have heard of 'blue balls'."

And NHS surgeon Dr Karan Rajan – who goes under @Dr.KaranR on TikTok – echoed the calls.

However, Dr Rajan warned of a potentially unforeseen side effect of the challenge.

“Wet dreams or nocturnal emissions aren't always about sexual arousal,” she explained.

"Nocturnal emissions are a way for the body to clear out sperm.

"Your sperm has an expiration date, so if you haven't fired your gooey cannon in a while, your body gets rid of the old stuff while you sleep.

"You're a sperm recycling factory – any sperm that reach their sell-by date and aren't used up get broken down and reabsorbed by your body.

"This is especially important for men that have had vasectomies because they still produce sperm.

"If your body didn't reabsorb sperm your dingleberries would swell up.”

Orgasm and ejaculation also help you sleep better by increasing the level of the hormone prolactin that supports high-quality REM sleep, according to the surgeon.
