Sir Keir poked at the Prime Minister for “taxing the working people, while oil and gas companies enjoy “bumper profits”. He called for a windfall tax that would “raise billions and ease the burden”.
But Mr Johnson quipped back: “This is a classic example of what Labour’s got wrong in their period in charge.
“The oil and gas companies are investing £20billion in ensuring we have long-term energy supplies.
“I remember the Labour 1997 manifesto said there was no economic case for more nuclear power.
“We are now having to make good of that historic mistake by investing in our own long-term supplies.”
