The proposed £4,700 bill would reportedly be footed by some two million UK landlords, following proposals from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). In September last year, the Government said it had committed to upgrading as many privately rented homes as possible to a new energy efficiency standard by 2030 at the latest. The Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Band C aims to reduce overall energy bills and increase the standard of living for tenants, while also increasing property value for landlords.
