Huawei has unveiled a series of new laptops and phones featuring similar specs to Apple’s iPhone and Macbook that are a third cheaper than their rivals.
The Chinese telecoms giant revealed its first folding smartphone and three laptops at the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona.
Among the new product range that aims to are two mid-range laptops – the MateBook 13 and 14 – as well as the top end MateBook X-Pro.
The releases comes on the back of strong sales in 2018 for Huawei laptops, including the first generation of Matebook X-Pro.
It also comes amid intense suspicion from Western intelligence agencies who fear the company works as a front for the vast Chinese spy apparatus.

The MateBook 13 and 14 – where the numbers indicate the size of the screen in inches – have many similar features to Apple’s MacBooks, but with lower prices.
Huawei has said that the MateBook 13, the cheapest of the three laptops, is specifically targeted at graduates and young professionals.
Apple’s MacBook laptops start at £1,250 ($16,00) while the MateBook 13 will cost under £900 ($1,170).

Huawei’s MateBook X-Pro is the only high-range laptop released at the Spanish technology conference, with the first generation on sale last year.
The upgraded model has retained most of the old design and features and will cost just under £1,400 ($1,800).

The Matebook X-Pro has a touch screen and a 91 per cent screen ratio
The X-Pro is 1.33 Kg, 14.6 mm
The X Pro is available with either 8GB or 16GB of RAM, and between 256GB and up to a 1TB of storage
The MateBook 14 will cost just over £1,000 ($1,300).
The new X-Pro has a touch screen as well as 91 per cent screen ratio.
Its ‘on’ button also doubles as a fingerprint sensor, allowing users to turn on the machine and authenticate their identity in one go.
Huawei says that the battery life of the new X-Pro support 14 hours of video playback, longer than the MacBook Pro.
The MateBook 13 and X-Pro will be available by the end of this month while the Matebook 14 will follow with a release in April.
The first generation of Huawei X-Pro looks similar to the MacBook Pro by having the same ‘Space Grey’ colour and thin, lightweight design. The new X-Pro 13 inch weighs 1.33kg, slightly lighter than the current 13 inch MacBook Pro.
