Police say the package contained £27,000 worth of cocaine.
A Barcelona police spokesperson said: “There is no limit to the inventiveness of drug traffickers trying to mock controls.”
Police didn’t reveal any further details about the man, who was detained at the end of last month.
Last year, more than 100kg of cocaine were seized by Spanish police at Barcelona’s El Prat airport.
In June, police seized more than a tonne of cocaine and arrested 16 people in England and Spain.
That was during an investigation into an alleged Brit drugs gang which had aligned with a ring in Colombia.
The arrests took place after the Colombians allegedly handed over the cocaine to Brit men at a shopping centre near Madrid.
