Cops shocked to find perp who smashed taxi window was a goose

Police called to a reported traffic collision in Nottingham yesterday found instead a bizarre smash and grab situation.

Officers arrived to find a taxi with a broken window, but once the coppers took a gander inside they discovered a slightly stunned goose.

The dazed bird has been taken to a vet to make sure it didn’t hurt itself too badly after breaking the window with its head, while the poor cabbie will face a hefty repair bill.

It’s not thought that the goose is insured.

Connecting the random incident with the upcoming Nottingham Goose Fair, with its ever-popular roller-coasters, water rides, giant wheel, bombers, dodgems and waltzers, Radford Road Police tweeted: “When a colleague asked if a call had been received about a goose flying into a taxi over the radio, we had to see it to believe it.

“Goose was taken to the vets & unfortunately the taxi had to repair the damage. We think he may be trying to find his way to #goosefair #randomjob.

The goslings are born on the sheer cliff face to protect them from predators, but before they can fly they need to eat – and that involves the perilous sheer drop.

Cinematographer Mateo Willis, who filmed the footage using a camera mounted on a crane, revealed that he became quite emotionally involved with the fluffy chicks:.“You have nothing else to focus on and you want every one of those chicks to make it and when they don’t it is heart rending.

“You really feel for the effort they’ve gone to.

“You sit there with the parents for so long and then they lose one chick, then lose a second chick and you’re thinking, ‘Come on guys, you can do this!’.:
