Bloke who used billboard for Valentine’s Day to find love finally lands date

A singleton so desperate for love he advertised for dates on a giant billboard finally landed an evening out with a woman.

Mark Rofe has been single for a year so decided to take drastic action, paying £425 for a 3m high and 6m wide billboard advertisement of himself.

The massive sign in Manchester featured a photo of him lounging on his side and says: "Single? Date Mark. This could be the sign you've been waiting for."

The promotion worked a treat as he got thousands of applicants interested in going out with him, including a man in China who offered: “I give you pleasure and many moneys. I own big shoe company.”

And he finally went on a date on Valentine’s Day but sadly it didn't work out.

The 30-year-old said: “We both had a lot of fun (not THAT kind of fun for those of you with filthy minds).

"She's a lovely, interesting and clever person and anyone would be lucky to date her.

“But we both felt we weren't a good fit for each other."

Undeterred, he has launched a website – datingmark.co.uk – where applicants can get in touch, and has launched a crowdfunding website for more billboards.

He hopes to raise enough money to erect adverts in Dublin, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Cardiff, Leeds, Sheffield, Portsmouth, Bristol, and London to find The One.

He added: "If at first you don't succeed, buy more billboards.”

On his website he joked he is "extremely handsome and modest” and boasts of having two friends and having kissed “more than three” girls in his life.
