From supplements to vacuum devices, there’s a range of strange methods available that claim to help men enlarge their penises.
One such supplement, with the not-so-subtle name of ‘Big Penis’, promotes sexual enhancement, but actually contains a potentially dangerous ingredient, according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The FDA explained: “FDA laboratory analysis confirmed that Big Penis contains sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra , an FDA-approved prescription drug for erectile dysfunction.”
To reach this conclusion, the FDA tested samples of Big Penis during routine testing.
Their analysis revealed that the supplement contained sildenafil, despite there being no mention of the ingredient on the packaging.
The FDA added: ‘“This undeclared ingredient may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs, such as nitroglycerin, and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels.”
Worryingly, many people rely on medications containing nitrates, including those with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart disease.
