The Chase’s Mark Labbett opens up on 10 stone weight loss as he credits his dog

The Chase star Mark Labbett – AKA The Beast – has revealed the secret behind his incredible 10 stone weight loss.

Mark, who is barely deserving of his ITV quiz show moniker after his impressive transformation, revealed that his ‘personal trainer’ is the secret to his success.

And rather than forking out money at a gym for the honour, he uses his adorable golden retriever instead.

The professional quizzer admitted during an interview on ITV programme The Pet Show that his sweet pooch Baloo has helped him keep fit.

Speaking to presenters Dermot O’Leary and Joanna Page, Mark explained: "Katie [my wife] promised me that when we first got him she would take care of everything – feeding him, walking him and so on.

"That lasted about two or three weeks before she decided, ‘Actually, Mark, look at your belly – you need the exercise!’"

He now calls Baloo his "personal trainer", joking that he’s much cheaper and only charges him half a carvery meal.

Mark added on the show: "I was walking him around the fields, taking me places… I think he’s helped a lot, simply because I’m doing more activity.

"The other thing as well, during the lockdown my wife was working as an auxiliary nurse, I was looking after our son and I soon found it’s tough! It’s exhausting."

And while making an appearance on the show, some fans couldn’t help pointing out just how loose Mark’s jeans looked while sitting on the couch.

One fan commented: "Looks like you need to get jeans that fit your shrinking body, not that I’m looking too much!"

"You look so much fitter, younger and healthier – good on you Mark, keep it up!" another cheered.

The star quizzer has also opened up on Loose Women about his body overhaul, explaining: "I am gradually dropping Xs off my size. I've gone from 5XL to 4XL and it looks like the next time I go shopping I'll be able to squeeze into XL underpants."

He added: "I've lost 10 stone, I was 29 stone when I was a full time teacher in 2003 and I was in danger of high blood pressure.

"I've been around 26 stone up until lockdown, and then a few things happened quite nicely and came together and I started losing weight."
