TV legend Les Dennis has revealed how he was left "traumatised" after walking in on his parents bonking on the sofa when he was a teenager.
The 69-year-old former Family Fortunes host said "intimacy" was hard for him ever since he walked in on his mum and dad – Winnie and Leslie – having sex when he was just 13. The dad-of-three, who is starring in Strictly Come Dancing this year, said he was left ‘traumatised’ by the sight.
He said that it had affected him for his whole life, and that his wife Claire often got annoyed at him for not holding her hand in public – a sign of ‘intimacy’. Les told how his parents used to have furious rows and not speak for ages – before having 'make-up sex'.

He said: "They used to row and not speak for days…then suddenly it would be OK because they’d have what we call 'make-up sex'. Seeing what I saw and how it affected me is something I have to watch. Claire gets frustrated walking down the street because I’ll drop her hand and she’ll say, 'Oh no you don’t.' or if she asks me to dance, I won’t. I’ll just say 'I’m doing a bit of dad dancing'"

It comes after Les said he is convinced we aren’t gone for good when we die and after he goes, he wants to come back as a member of his family — a descendent of himself.
He said: "I believe that we come back in some way in our families. I don’t want to come back too soon, because I don’t want my daughter to be my mum. But I’d like to come back a few generations from now, in my own family… in the clan." Les is desperate for it to happen so he can find out what happens to his loved ones and what they really think of him when he’s gone.
He added: "I am obsessed with myself. I want to be able to look up and ask my kids, ‘What was I like? What was your grandad like?’ I want to hear about me."

Asked if he’s bothered how he returns, he said: "I don’t know… binary or non-binary… girl, boy, I don’t mind. Just a member of the family." When Les was born in 1953, his family – including his mum Winnie – thought it was his late brother reincarnated as a new person.
He said: "My brother had died not long before I was born. He was eight months old. Died of pneumonia. When I was born, everyone said, 'Winnie, you have got him back'. I had to be the good boy for my mum because I was living up to this image.”
Les is taking part in Strictly because he wants a new challenge at 69. He said: "I was in the mix for Strictly, and then I heard from my agent I’d got it, and I called my wife and she cried – but in a good way. She didn’t cry going, ‘Don’t do it!’"
He will dance his first routine with pro partner Nancy Xu when the live shows kick off Saturday night (September 23) on BBC One.
