Pop sensation Rihanna and legendary film director Peter Jackson have joined the Forbes billionaires list for the first time ever in 2022.

The Umbrella singer and Lord of the Rings director are appearing for the first time alongside a star-studded list of Hollywood stars, including Jay-Z and Kanye West.

Rihanna ranks at 1729 on the list, while Peter made number 1929.

S&M hitmaker Rihanna is valued at $1.7billion (£1.4billion) by Forbes – partially thanks to her cosmetics line Fenty Beauty and her 30% stake in Savage x Fenty lingerie line.

Fenty Beauty – which Rihanna co-owns with luxury French retailer LVMH, generated more than $550million (£420million) in revenue in 2020 – the same year the Covid-19 pandemic struck.

Savage x Fenty, meanwhile, was valued at $1billion (£765million) in February 2021.

It makes Rihanna – who is currently expecting her first child with rapper ASAP Rocky – Barbados' first ever billionaire.

Peter Jackson, meanwhile, officially became a billionaire in November when he flogged part of his Weta digital film effects shop for $1.6billion (£1.2billion) in cash and stock to Unity Software.

That company created the on-screen vision of Lord of the Rings villain Gollum using actor Andy Serkis' motions behind the scenes.

His most famous film franchises – Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit – have grossed $6billion (£4.5billion) worldwide, according to Forbes.

Also among them on the list is rapper Kanye West, valued at $2billion (£1.5billion) and ranking at 1513 – thanks to a multi-year deal to design his trainer brand Yeezy for Adidas.

His industry mentor Jay-Z comes in at $1.4billion (£1billion).

The top spot, predictably, is occupied by Tesla tycoon Elon Musk, who is valued at an eye-watering $219billion (£167billion), followed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos at $171billion (£131billion).

Stars including Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg and Tyler Perry also made the list, with Oprah valued at a whopping $2.6billion (£1.9billion).

Star Wars and Indiana Jones producer George Lucas also made the cut, with an estimated net worth of $6.1billion (£4.6billion).
