Rapper JayDaYoungan has died aged 24 after being killed outside home in shooting

Rapper JayDaYoungan has died at the age of 24.

The Bogalusa Police Department has confirmed that the rapper, whose real name is Javorius Tykies Scott, died as a result of his injuries.

JayDaYoungan and a close family member were reportedly shot in their home state of Louisiana on Wednesday night (July 27).

The rapper's relative, Kenyatta Scott Sr, has been transported to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition, said local police.

Bogalusa Police confirmed earlier in the evening that two separate shootings had occurred and that they were investigating a possible connection between the incidents.

The rapper first found success when he signed to Atlantic Records in 2017 and has gained a steady following thanks to his mixtapes.

Upon arrival, officers found that one victim had been transported to a nearby hospital while another was critically injured at the scene.

The 24-year-old up-and-coming rap star has collaborated with artists like Latto, Moneybagg Yo, Lil Durk and Boosie Badazz.

Fans have since shared their condolences on Twitter.

"Damn not JayDaYoungan bro. This is so sad," said one fan.

"JayDaYoungan your legacy will live on," tweeted another, while a third penned: "I can't believe this RIP JayDaYoungan."

According to social media posts, JayDaYoungan has a young son.

JayDaYoungan was born on July 15, 1998, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, and began his rapping career at the age of 18.

He was best known for his singles 23 Island, Elimination and Opps, which have received 49, 27 and 26 million respective streams on SoundCloud.

On his goals, he said, "Later on in my career, when I get to a certain point, I will be signing artists, starting my own label. Just perfecting my craft each and every day."
